Mechanical Engineer Vehicle

WHAT WILL YOU DO
As one of our mechanical engineers you will play a key role in the development of the hyperloop. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, modelling, designing, building, and testing mechanical subsystems of the hyperloop vehicle. These subsystems may include mechanisms, cooling systems, structural components, and braking systems.
Hardt is seeking a mechanical engineer for the vehicle to join our diverse, experienced team in designing mechanical subsystems as part of the overall systems architecture and realization of these systems for several tests including at the European Hyperloop Center.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
As our mechanical engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership in the development of one or multiple vehicle subsystems.
- 3D design and modelling of vehicle subsystems.
- Calculations and simulations of subsystem performance.
- Calculations on stiffness and strength of components including FEA.
- Creation of manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Working together with engineers within and outside the vehicle team.
- Working together with development partners on the design and manufacturing.
- Managing the subsystems through production, assembly, and testing.
Job requirements
YOUR PROFILE
- Minimum of 3 years of experience related to the position.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering or other fields related to Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with physical prototyping and testing mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing for most common production methods (sheet metal, milling, lathing, extrusion, casting etc.).
- Experience with geometric dimensioning & tolerancing.
- Experience with 3D modelling (CAD) software (e.g. Siemens NX, Solidworks, or CATIA).
- Experience with FEA software (e.g. Siemens NX, Ansys, or Abaqus).
- Strong work ethic and drive to be the best.
- Excellent communication skills in English — both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomous, and demanding atmosphere.
